In Spring 2017, Amazon opened a new fulfilment centre in Tilbury employing 1,500 people. The centre has limited car parking spaces for employees. A recommendation of Thurrock Council’s travel plan was for Amazon to engage with SEAT to encourage more employees to walk and cycle to work.

DST

DST is a leading provider of specialised technology, strategic advisory, and business operations outsourcing to the financial and healthcare industries. DST employs around 5,000 people across 12 locations in the UK and Ireland.

Cantel designs and manufactures a range of specialized medical equipment. As a local business it employs approximately 100 staff. There is a mixture of office, factory and warehouse staff and drivers.

Southend Hospital

Southend Hospital has limited discounted car parking available for staff with full charge parking available for the general public. Car parking space is at a premium and all the streets surrounding the hospital have a resident permit scheme in place with some pay and display parking.

Project 49 is a community-based resource run by Southend Care Ltd in Central Southend. It provides innovative services for adults with learning disabilities. Project 49 have an ongoing programme of events promoting healthy living and wellbeing to service users and staff alike.
