Rail

Instead of being stuck in congestion, travelling by train means you can speed along while reading a book, checking your emails, updating your social media or whatever else takes your fancy. There are frequent train services to stations across south Essex, with discounted tickets available for regular travellers.

Train tickets

There are lots of options for buying train tickets, so you can find one that suits you.

Save money by getting a monthly or annual season ticket, which are most suited to regular rail users. If you get the bus to the station or to your final destination why not try getting a PLUSBUS ticket that combines the two and saves you money? If you have a railcard you get a discount on the whole ticket too, not just your train travel.

Railcards

There is a railcard to suit everyone and plenty of discounts to be had. If any of the below applies to you then you might be eligible for a railcard:

  • If you are aged between 16-25 or over 60.
  • If you have a disability.
  • If you regularly travel with friends and family.
  • If you are travelling within London and the South East.

Each railcard has its own terms and conditions, so take a look and see which one works best for you. Visit National Rail Enquiries for more information.

Cycle storage at stations

Cycle storage has been installed at a number of stations across south Essex on both the c2c and Greater Anglia lines.

Train operators

c2c run trains between Shoeburyness and Basildon, stopping at all stations in between and going on to London Fenchurch Street. c2c also operates services to/from Southend Central and London Fenchurch Street via Stanford-le-Hope, East Tilbury, Tilbury Town, Grays, Chafford Hundred Lakeside and Ockendon.

The Greater Anglia line, run by Abellio, goes from Southend Victoria, calling at Prittlewell, London Southend Airport, Rochford, Hockley and Rayleigh on its way to London Liverpool Street.
