Organisations across south Essex are already seeing the benefits of partnering with ForwardMotion.
Find out more about the ForwardMotion delivery team
ForwardMotion is an initiative to encourage people to think differently about the way they travel around south Essex instead of jumping in the car for every journey.
ForwardMotion’s goal is to reduce the reliance on car travel and encourage people to consider alternative ways of travelling, to improve mental and physical wellbeing, and reduce emissions across south Essex.
The initiative is supported by Essex County Council, in partnership with Southend-on-Sea City Council, Thurrock Council, Basildon Council, Castle Point Borough Council and Rochford District Council.
ForwardMotion is the evolution of a previous active travel campaign, Ideas in Motion. Ideas in Motion started in 2011 as a Department for Transport funded initiative aimed at encouraging residents in Southend-on-Sea to travel by foot, bike, bus or train for short journeys.
We work with individuals and partner organisations including businesses, training providers, schools, colleges and universities to provide services that make alternative travel options accessible. Each district offers different services, which may include Personal Travel Plans, Bespoke cycle training, public transport travel advice and much more.
