Hares About Town

Don’t miss your chance to hop along Southend’s spectacular sculptural trail this Summer and discover the colourful masterpieces featured on the seafront and surrounding areas!

From the 1st July to the 12th September 2021 the seafront and surrounding areas will be decorated with 30 giant, fibre-glass hare sculptures.  These colourful and fascinating masterpieces have been designed and created by both local and national artists and will form a stunning sculpture trail – all to raise vital funds and awareness for Havens Hospices.

Trail Maps will be available from various venues, train stations and other information points around the town from the 1st July. The map will give information about the locations of the Hares as well as information about the Learning Programme linked to the Hares.

A special Hares About Town app has also been produced, which you will be able to download from 1st July. A unique number will be provided at each Hares location, which you type into the app to claim that Hare.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is extremely proud to have sponsored two of these artistic creations – one called Rusty and the other called Hare’s Magic – can you find out where they both are!

A number of events and activities will also be taking place throughout the duration of the trail. A full timetable will be uploaded to this page from 1st of July.

So, why not get active and get in touch with your inner explorer and join the FREE trail this Summer. Each of the Hares locations have been chosen as they are fully accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

This page will continue to be updated with information. To visit the official Hares About Town website, please go to www.haresabouttown.co.uk
