Businesses encouraged to install free cycle parking

Published: 06/03/20

We are encouraging businesses in south Essex to get their employees to travel more sustainably by installing cycle parking on their premises.

The ParkThatBike scheme is part of a wider campaign by ForwardMotion to get more people out of their cars and using bicycles, walking or public transport.

Bike hangar storage units, worth £2,900, are available for free. The lockable bike hangars provide weatherproof, secure storage for four cycles. Organisations pay only a £300 delivery and installation.

Sheffield-type cycle stands, heart-shaped stands, wall-mounted rails, PlantLocks (a combined planter and bike rack) and free-standing ‘toast-racks’ are also available. Organisations can apply to have up to four cycle stands free of charge. Applicants are asked only to arrange installation themselves.  ParkThatBike provides instructions for installing the bike stands.

You can apply for a bike hangar or bike stands on behalf of your business, by phoning 01594 564 344 or online at www.parkthatbike.info/bikehangars
