Statement on COVID-19

Published: 18/03/20

This article refers to the initial lockdown in the UK from March 2020. To view the services affected by the second lockdown as of 5/11/2020, click here.

In light of the recent Government guidelines regarding COVID-19, some ForwardMotion services will temporarily be suspended, with all public facing events and services postponed until further notice.

As a lot of what we do relies on direct engagement with the public, this decision was not taken lightly, but we feel it is a necessary one to safeguard our staff and service users.

As of today (18 March 2020), affected ForwardMotion services include:

  • ForwardMotion’s attendance at public events and spaces, such as schools, workplaces and libraries will be cancelled or postponed.
  • Our Cycle Hub Thurrock will be closed to the public until further notice.
  • Our Cycle Hub Mobile will be closed to the public and not deployed to events such as local markets until further notice.

We have also taken the decision to postpone our ‘Spring Clean Your Journey’ challenge.

The situation is everchanging and all changes to services are subject to review. We will update our website and social media channels as necessary.

Government guidelines advise against unnecessary journeys. However should you need to contact us regarding any of our services, our team will be available by email or phone. You can contact us on hello@forwardmotionsouthessex.co.uk or 01702 212727.

You can also refer to advice from Southend Borough Council, Essex County Council and Thurrock Council on other local services that may be affected.

We thank you for your understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused. We urge everyone to follow public health advice where possible, and we can’t wait to be back on the cycle path again soon.

Many thanks,

The ForwardMotion team
