Southend Tweed Ride and Belfairs Cycling Festival

Two cycling events will be held in Southend-on-Sea on Sunday, 22 September.

ForwardMotion is putting on the annual Southend Tweed Ride and jointly running the brand new Belfairs Cycling Festival with the Essex Wildlife Trust.

The much-loved Tweed Ride is an opportunity to dress up in your best tweed and vintage gear and ride along Southend seafront and the Prittle Brook Greensway. All ages are welcome.

This year, the Tweed Ride starts at Gunners Park in Shoeburyness and finishes at Belfairs Woodland Centre in Leigh-on-Sea.

Riders should meet at Gunners Park at 2pm and be ready to set off at 2.15pm. There is a pickup point at Priory Park. If you are joining us there, please be at Priory Park by 3pm. We will be arriving at Belfairs Woodland Centre at approximately 4pm ready to join the Belfairs Cycling Festival.

The Belfairs Cycling Festival runs from 12pm to 5pm.

At the festival, children will be able to have a go on a balance bike or cycle around a pop-up wooden bike track. There will also be a guided walk for adults and children through Belfairs Nature Reserve and Woodland.

Endurance cyclist Georgina Cleere will be arriving at the festival at 4.30pm. Georgina, who is from Basildon, will just have completed a solo 166-mile bike ride around Essex, visiting every Essex Wildlife Trust in the county. Please do give Georgina a cheer when you see her arrive.

Belfairs Woodland Centre will be serving cream teas during the festival at a cost of £4.50. If you book in advance you will receive a 20% discount. To make a booking, please call Belfairs Woodland Centre on 01702 477467.
