Southend Hospital

Southend Hospital has limited discounted car parking available for staff with full charge parking available for the general public. Car parking space is at a premium and all the streets surrounding the hospital have a resident permit scheme in place with some pay and display parking.

To free up more spaces for patients and visitors we were invited to assist staff with their travel choices.

Engagement

We attended the hospital in May 2018 and completed 19 Personal Travel Plans, encouraging staff to look at walking, cycling and public transport options to travel to work.

We attended Southend Hospital again in September 2018 and completed a further 23 Personal Travel Plans.

“It (The PTP) was really helpful, I usually spend at least 15 minutes stuck sitting in traffic on the A127… I was wondering if I had options- now I know- I’ll try the train!” Sharon

Legacy

We have an in-house Travel champion who can direct staff to SEAT for further engagement. We plan to visit Southend Hospital every 6 months.
