Celebrating a successful Tweed Ride and Belfairs Cycling Festival

ForwardMotion would like to send a big thank you to everyone who attended or was involved in making the Southend Tweed Ride and Belfairs Cycling Festival happen on Sunday, 23 September. Particular thanks go to Essex Wildlife Trust, who jointly organised the Belfairs Cycling Festival.

Despite the rain and bad weather, both events were a great success. The Tweed Riders looked fabulous in their vintage attire. You can see some of the amazing outfits on show on Instagram @forwardmotionsouthessex.

The Belfairs Cycling Festival attracted lots of families. The balance bikes and Northshore Track were both very popular with children and showed people how much fun cycling can be. Local mountain biking club Hadleigh MTB Club kindly volunteered their time to help out on the Northshore Track, assisting riders and providing helpful tips. A highlight of the day was when endurance cyclist Georgina Cleere arrived at the festival, having just completed a solo 166-mile trip around Essex, visiting every Essex Wildlife Trust in the county. Georgina was greeted with a bicycle guard of honour and presented with flowers and champagne to congratulate her on completing the ride, which had taken her nearly 13 hours. You can watch the video of this moment on our Instagram account.

Thanks again to everyone for making it such a fantastic day!
