Award-winning artist inspires active travel at the Southend Festival

The Southend Festival 2019, which took place from Friday 14 June to Sunday 14 July 2019, was a celebration of the arts and culture in Southend-on-Sea, with lots of events taking place within the High Street and across the seafront.

ForwardMotion was delighted to sponsor the festival and encourage visitors to travel by bike, on foot and on public transport. During the festival there was something for everyone, with a mixture of art, comedy, music, literature and performance.

As the sponsor of the festival, we ran a competition for someone to produce a piece of artwork for the festival promoting the health and environmental benefits of cycling, walking and using public transport. The winning artwork was created by local artist Paul Karslake and can be found by the railway bridge in Southend high street, next to Poundland.

ForwardMotion is now looking forward to taking part in the Southend Pride march on Saturday, 20 July, which is guaranteed to be a fun-filled day. If you’d like to join us at the parade, it starts at 12pm in Southend High Street, near The Royals Shopping Centre. The march will make its way up the high street, ending in Warrior Square, where you will have the chance to celebrate pride with family and friends, grab some great food and drink and watch some live acts perform on-stage. We hope to see you there!
